Introduction
FiberHub is a cutting-edge, economical outdoor fiber distribution system for Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-To-The-Antenna (FTTA) applications. With its ease of use, design flexibility, and broad compatibility with a wide variety of products on the market today, FiberHub has revolutionized fiber distribution in outdoor applications. FiberHub allows for multiple installation methods (wall mount, aerial install, pole mount), enabling you to install FiberHub according to the environment's requirements. While FiberHub is designed primarily to be used in FTTH applications, the product excels when utilized in FTTA networks and other harsh-field applications.
Key Applications for FiberHub
1. FTTH Application

In traditional FTTH networks, Optical Network Units (ONUs) or Fiber Distribution Hubs (FDHs) are used when the trunk of a fiber optic cable arrives at the building's exterior (e.g., apartments, single-family homes, etc.). FiberHub has been designed to replace both an ONU and FDH simultaneously, as it has integrated fiber distribution capabilities.
FiberHub has the capability to distribute fiber to between two and four 1x8 or 1x16 Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) installations and can hold a maximum of 24 fiber splice protection sleeves. When used with 1-4FL IP67 pre-assembled waterproof connectors, FiberHub can connect individual residences and low voltage cabinets directly.
The reduction in signal loss is primarily due to a reduction in the number of connection nodes required between each home or unit and the central fiber distribution unit. The factory pre-assembled FiberHub reduces the number of qualified personnel needed to complete the installation by up to 40%.
2. FTTA Application

In FTTA applications, Remote Radio Units (RRUs) and Base Band Units (BBUs) are typically connected with a fiber optic cable, creating a star topology of the network. Installation costs and times increase because each RRU needs two separate duplex outdoor cables linking back to the BBU.
FiberHub allows for the simplification of the connection process by providing an aggregated or demarcation point for connecting RRUs to BBUs. This means that rather than needing many different cables to connect RRUs to BBUs, only a single multi-fiber hybrid cable is needed to connect from the BBU to the FiberHub. The contents of the multi-fiber hybrid cable will then be distributed out from the FiberHub to each RRU using an IP67 pre-assembled waterproof cable assembly.
Additionally, FiberHub provides power to the RRUs via pre-assembled power connectors which also reduce the amount of time, money, and labor needed for installation and maintenance.
3. Trunk Cable Connectors

Trunk cables consist of many different individual length cables which typically require several fusion splice connections due to the relatively short cable lengths that are available on the drums. This can create a lot of weak connections that need to be secured and supported if they are to last.
To help prevent this type of failure, FiberHub seals and secures the incoming trunk cable(s) through torsion-proof cable glands (metal/tuff plastic). Trunk cables with a diameter of 5mm - 14mm can be supported in the FiberHub. The torsion glands are designed to absorb some of the stress from bending the cable, thus preventing damage to the optical fibers contained within them.
Within the housing of FiberHub, the main trunk cable along with the strength members are secured and installed such that the entire housing will sustain a 1200N pull-out force under normal use for an extended period of time.
Additionally, a FiberHub can accommodate up to 24 splice protection sleeves and 2 PLC, thus providing a very simple and efficient way to separate optical fibers. The anti-skid feature of the base permits it to be mounted securely to either wire or pole.
4. Military Communications

The military is one of the primary applications for which grounding/bonding connectors/cables are used. The replacement frequency of these cables and connectors is very high due to the amount of force and stress placed on them, which can reach thousands of pounds of pulling force.
FiberHub has solved the problem of providing a strong cable and connector by incorporating an armored cable construction and providing strength members within the FiberHub assembly, which create security for the FiberHub enclosure.
The FiberHub can withstand a pulling force of 1200N for the long term of its life. High strength materials combined with an arc interface in the FiberHub assembly create a reliable cable and connector combination that will provide the required reliability for use in shock conditions.
Therefore, FiberHub is a good choice for communication in military star networks.
