FOSC Installation Procedure
Step 1: Open the Closure
Clean the installation site and determine where to place the FOSC.
Check all components and accessories in the package.
Disassemble the insert plate using a special wrench.
Remove all locating and fixing bolts, then open the housing.
See Drawing 1

Note: If the weather is poor, pitch a tent for waterproof and dustproof protection.
Step 2: Determine Fiber Cable Length
60 mm: Distance from seal fitting to cable pressboard.
2000 mm: For winding and splicing after stripping.
400 mm: Protective-coated section from fixing point to splice tray.
1600 mm: Bare fiber for coiling after splicing.
See Drawing 2

Note: Reserve enough cable length. Adjust stripping length as needed.
Step 3: Strip Cable Jacket
Use a cutter and stripper to remove the jacket as shown in Drawing 2.
See Drawing 3

Note: Strip section by section if the full length is hard to remove to avoid damage.
Step 4: Prepare Fiber Cores
Wrap tape on the cable, remove filler, clean fibers, and form ~100mm loops.
Choose the number of inlet/outlet ports based on actual cable use.
Port A: Max Ø20mm; Port B: Max Ø14mm.
Use sealing tape if the cable diameter is smaller than the port.
Reserve 40 mm of reinforcing core.
See Drawing 4

Note: Scratch and clean the cable before applying the sealing tape.
Step 5: Fix Cable and Reinforcing Core
Remove the port plug, pressboard, and core nut. Check cable fit.
Tighten the pressboard (use insulation tape if necessary).
Tighten the core nut with a plastic wrench, then a metal wrench.
See Drawing 5

Step 6: Splice Fibers
Use a fusion splicer per the manual to splice fibers.
Note: Avoid twisting or bending.
Step 7: Install Sleeves and House Fibers
Place the first loop at the far end of the tray. Wind fibers ≥80mm loops.
Install a heat shrink sleeve and fit fibers into the tray.
See Drawing 6

Note: Handle fibers gently and maintain proper bend radius.
Step 8: Final Check
Ensure fibers are organized and the bending radius meets spec.
Tighten all inner fasteners.
Block unused ports with plugs.
Apply a proper amount of sealing tape.
Check the sealing surface is smooth and flush.
Close the housing.
See Drawing 7

Step 9: Assemble the Closure
Put the cover on the base.
Insert and tighten locating bolts.
Install and tighten insert plates.
Add a hook for aerial setup if needed, or tighten the 4 corners.
See Drawing 8

Note: Clean surfaces and follow the correct sequence.
Step 10: Mount the Closure
Fix and tighten the closure following Drawing 9.

Note: Retighten after 5 minutes. Avoid overtightening.

Each small package contains one fiber optic splice closure, together with its accessories, tools, installation manual, and packing list. |
full |
At least 3 sets sampled each time |
|
Appearance |
Intact in shape, no burrs, bubbles, chaps, pores, warps, impurities and other defects, all background colors should be even and continual. |
||
|
Sign |
There is a clear sign on the housing, such as the name and model of the product etc. |
||
|
Fiber storage device |
The fibers reserved are to be wound in a fiber optic splice tray (FOST), the length of fibers housed in FOST is >1.6m, and the curved radius is >30mm. During the installation and maintenance, there should be no attenuation on fibers. |
At least 3 sets sampled each time |
|
|
Electrical jointing device |
Inside FOSC, metallic components of fiber cables have the functions of electrical transmission, earthing connection, and disconnecting. It is possible to install an earthing deriving device outside the housing |
